Federer quits comeback at the ATP
Tennis superstar Roger Federer has made his fans hope for a soon comeback on the ATP tour. The 40-year-old Swiss announced his participation in the tournament in Basel in October on Tuesday at Instagram. Whether the 20-color Grand Slam winner will be fully operational until autumn, however, remains unclear.
At the beginning of March, Federer already announced that he hope for a "comeback in the middle or end of the year". A few days earlier, the long-standing world ranking first given his commitment to participate in the Laver Cup in September, he is co-organizer of the duel between the Team Europe and the Team World.
Federer has no match since his quarter-finals against Poland Hubert Hurkacz in July 2021 in Wimbledon. In August he had to undergo an operation on the right knee again - for the third time in 2020. Federer celebrated his last tournament victory in Basel in 2019.
