Super Mario Movie: First Speaker Unfelt, Chris Pratt is Mario

Fans was not amazing in the last Nintendo Direct, as suddenly Mario Creator Shigeru Miyamoto stood in front of the camera. He took the opportunity to reveal more details about the upcoming movie to Super Mario. Together with illumination, the animation studio behind the minions, has been working on the project since 2017. Now the film in the US is to come to the cinema on December 21, 2022. Nintendo wants to announce the date for Europe soon.

Hollywood meets the mushroom kingdom

Shigeru Miyamoto - who himself is involved as a producer at Super Mario - also presented the first speakers who will give their voice the animated figures from the Nintendo Universe. In the main role of Mario, fans in the US original may therefore look forward to Chris Pratt. The actor is currently known mainly for its performances in Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World. Anya Taylor-Joy will be heard as Princess Peach. Recently, the actress was nominated for her main role in Ladies Gambit at the Emmys. Luigi is spoken by Charlie Day (It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

Another highlight is the occupation of Bowser. Here Nintendo chose Jack Black. Even Seth Row is heard as Donkey Kong in the movie. Comedian Keegan-Michael Key will give Toad his voice. According to Miyamoto, Mario speaks much more as a protagonist than we are used to games. Charles Martinet, who is otherwise used as a speaker for Mario and many other figures, will receive a surprising Cameo performance. Other Cast members: Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. First material from the film was not shown during the Nintendo Direct.
