Masell returns to Bayreuth as head coach
Before the current season, Lars Masell left Bayreuth and moved to Ludwigsburg. There he acted as an assistant coach under John Patrick. Before that, the 41-year-old was co-trainer alongside Korner between 2016 and 2021. With the step to the giants, Masell wanted to move on in his coaching career. This project worked out completely, because from the coming season he has a head coaching post in the BBL for the first time.
"In my career, I worked on one day to get the chance to be able to take responsibility for a Bundesliga team., even if there are still a lot of different things in my head at the moment. It will be exciting to return to Bayreuth, but my full focus is on the play-offs beforehand, because I am sure that we are very good with the MHP huge Masell, who receives a one -year contract, is quoted on the Bayreuth website.
Managing Director Johannes Feuerpfeil adds: "We all know what excellent work Lars has already done here at the Bayreuth location. During this time, our contact with Lars was never torn down and it quickly became clear to us that after the farewell to Raoul Korner he is a very interesting candidate for us. I am very happy that we are not just an old friend Welcome again in Bayreuth, but rather give a young and hungry trainer the chance to now prove themselves as head coach at BBL level. "
